Laura Dahlberg (b. 1991) is a visual artist whose sculptures and installations explore the coexistence of living organisms and technology. Her works incorporate experimental materials, interactive electronics, and sensory experiences. At Ars Nova, Dahlberg’s works are exhibited across the museum, from the lobby to the third floor.

The focal point of the exhibition is the mechanical creatures Dahlberg has constructed. Their movement and existence are based on precisely integrated structures: motors and air cause the bodies to move and imbue them with a pulse and life.

The creatures seek their own place in the museum’s different environments, among the other art and the lobby’s ruins. The invisible air circulates in their bodies, combining the past, present and future. What will remain of these delicate creatures when the present becomes the past – and how will future archaeologists see us?

Dahlberg graduated as a visual artist from Saimaa University of Applied Sciences in 2016 and with a Master’s degree in Fine Art from the Academy of Fine Art at the Uniarts Helsinki in 2022. Her work has been exhibited in Finland, Sweden and Belgium. Dahlberg lives and works in Jyväskylä.
