The purpose of the Aboa Vetus Ars Nova Foundation is to preserve Finnish cultural traditions and support art. To achieve its purpose, the Foundation maintains the Aboa Vetus Ars Nova Museum in Rettig Palace.
In its mission, the Foundation preserves historically important archaeological finds and structures it has unearthed in Aboa Vetus, Finland’s only archaeological museum. The foundation supports art by cherishing the museum’s art collection and organising changing exhibitions of contemporary art at the Ars Nova Museum.
The foundation owns the Rettig Palace, which serves as a museum space, and an art collection focusing on Finnish contemporary art from the 1900s.
The Managing Director of the foundation is Ari Valkki.
