Artist in Residence

The Aboa Vetus Ars Nova Museum offers an Artist in Residence program in Turku, Finland. The museum focuses on the cultural heritage of medieval Finland as well as that of contemporary art.

The artist is provided a working space free of charge. The period of residence can vary from three to eight months according to the residence application.

The working space is 35 m² and is located approx. 3 km from the centre of Turku in a building completed in 2010. The artist pays for working materials, maintenance and travel expenses. The studio/working space is not suitable for metal sculpting or development of analog photography.

Living in the studio is not permitted. The artist is responsible for arranging their own accommodation.

Applying

Written applications may be sent throughout the year.

Residency programs are applied digitally. In the application the applicant should state: preferable residency period, art discipline, working plan, and contact information. All media material and pictures should be delivered as links.

Selection

Artists are selected for the Artist in Residence program based on their applications. The selection is made by the Museum Director and the Head of Exhibitions. The selected artist will be informed personally.
