Aboa Vetus invites children and their families to the ruins of medieval Turku: come identify and examine bones, help the archaeologist and learn about life in days gone by throughout the autumn vacation. There’s something for all ages to experience at the museum!
Guided tour for families every day at 12
On the guided tour, you’ll explore old Turku and learn how people used to live. Among the ruins of real medieval stone houses, you can marvel at archaeological finds and immerse yourself in the past by trying things out and playing games.
The guided tour suits all ages and can accommodate 25 people. The tour lasts one hour and is in Finnish. The tour is included in the admission price.
Children’s bone workshop on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 2 pm
In the bone workshop, children take on the role of archaeologists and examine genuine animal bones. What can bones reveal to researchers, and how are they studied?
The bone workshop is aimed at school-age children and can accommodate 15 children. The workshop lasts 45 minutes and is in Finnish. Participation is included in the admission price.
Children’s adventure tour on Tuesday and Thursday at 2 pm
The museum’s archaeologist needs help! Children get to help solve archaeological mysteries whilst learning about the lives of people in times gone by.
The adventure tours are aimed at children aged around 5–8, and there is space for 15 children. The tour lasts one hour and is in Finnish. The tour is included in the admission price.
